Emanuel Karantzoulis

Senior Scientist - Technical director of the Elettra Light Source and Elettra Cluster Coordinator

    * Doctor of Philosophy in High Energy Physics, Sussex University, England

Dr. Karantzoulis has worked in various branches of physics (High Energy Physics, non-linear physics and accelerator physics). He has worked at DESY, Hamburg, Germany and with the HERA project on proton machines. He then moved to Elettra-Sincrotrone Trieste in Italy and was involved in the design and commissioning of the Elettra synchrotron light source.

He is the Technical Director of the Elettra Light Source coordinating the Elettra Cluster with tasks of operating, upgrading and innovating the accelerator complex as well as promoting projects that are aiming to the advancement of Elettra. He contributed also in the contruction of the FERMI free electron laser being project leader responsible for building the electron beam transport and beam collimating and dump system. Currently he is also the Director of the Elettra 2.0 project, the new diffraction limited light source that will eventually replace Elettra.
