Giovanni De Ninno is one of the winners of Slovenian Zois Award 2014

Giovanni De Ninno, researcher at Elettra and professor at the University of Nova Gorica, is one of the winners of the 2014 edition of the prestigious Zois award.

The prize is annually awarded since 1988 from the Slovenian Minister of Research and is the highest award for Research and Scientific Development. 
 
Giovanni De Ninno was awarded on November 21, during a ceremony in Brdo pri Kranju, for the following motivations: 
1) the scientific contribution provided during the design and commissioning of the FERMI free-electron laser at Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste;
2) the construction of the light source CITIUS at the University of Nova Gorica;
3) the contributions in the field of nonlinear optics and
4) the leadership of international projects, which put Slovenia on the roadmap of the Countries engaged in the development and use of innovative light sources.
