March 2007 marks ten years since the first beamtime of the Gas Phase beamline at Elettra was allocated to an external user. In this period, about 140 beamtimes have been awarded by the international panel and successfully completed. The broad energy range, the high photon resolution and throughput of the beamline has allowed users to achieve highly significant results and about 110 papers have been published in international journals with high impact factors. It is now time to celebrate the past and think about the future, and possible upgrades of the beamline and the associated instrumentation to allow our user community to continue and expand their excellent science. For this purpose we are organizing a workshop

10 years of Atomic and Molecular Science at Elettra

Trieste, 31st May – 1st June 2007.

The goal is to summarize the main results achieved in these ten years of operation, to debate the main topics under investigation and their future developments, to identify new areas of activity and the main upgrades needed for the light source, the beamline and the available end-stations.
