ICTP Adriatico Guesthouse, Grignano, Trieste
26-27 April 2017
On 26 and 27 April the ICTP Adriatico Guesthouse in Grignano, Trieste hosted the 3rd ESS In-Kind Diagnostics Forum. The event was organised by Elettra in cooperation with the colleagues from ICTP.
Over the two days of the event, about thirty colleagues, coming from all the labs providing in-kind contributions to ESS diagnostics, shared a debate to illustrate the progress of their respective ongoing projects. A few colleagues who could not attend personally used the Vidyo platform to participate in the meeting from ESS Lund and ESS Bilbao. Three presentations were in fact delivered remotely.
As usual with this type of events, many informal contacts took place during the breaks, also favoured by the environment of the meeting, particularly suitable for exchanges with colleagues.

During the final session, each participant highlighted the issues and the challenges that surfaced during the course of the project, and provided a background for their contribution in the general framework of the ESS timetable. To effectively carry out the project, it is therefore crucial to involve all the partners in a shared communication effort.
Elettra is one of the three Italian Institutions committed to the realization of the Italian In-kind contribution to ESS, together with INFN and CNR. Besides the contribution to the diagnostics, the other Elettra in kind contributions concern the RF power stations for the spoke cavities, the magnets installed in the linac warm units and in the transfer lines and the power converters for the delivered magnets.
