The professors and students of seven schools of Friuli Venezia Giulia Region involved in the 4th edition of PaGES  project, started on January 2019 with a rich schedule of activities and events.
 
During the first event organized at the CERIC headquarters, a group of Elettra researchers acquainted the teachers with the scientific knowledge behind the experiments that will be carried out by their students in the upcoming months. The following topics were addressed:
  • Introduction to particle accelerators (by Simone Di Mitri)
  • Gold nanoparticles and their applications in nanomedicine (by Loredana Casalis)
  • Infrared vibrational spectroscopy and Raman scattering (by Lisa Vaccari and Francesco D’Amico)
In the first three weeks of January, the students of the 7 school partners in PaGES4 attended the first set of lectures scheduled in the project’s training programme.

PaGES - Planning, Management and Implementation of a scientific experiment in an international research infrastructure

PaGES gives high school students from the Region Friuli Venezia Giulia the opportunity to have the experience of an innovative educational context. By carrying out all the steps of a scientific experiment, students will acquire the basic tools for planning, management, execution, evaluation and dissemination of the results of a research project.

The project is funded by the Italian Region Friuli Venezia Giulia, within the program “Regional plan for the building up of the formative offer for the academic year 2018/2019”, in the section “Special projects”
