Restarting the monochromator server

Please follow this procedure if the monochromator is unresponsive. It is mandatory to restart all servers when recovering from a powercut and whenever the YAMS controller has been switched off and on. First check that the computer is on the internet and the Network connection is correctly established. If so, then check the state of the server as follows:

  • Start the Astor TANGO manager: Start menu / All Programs / Tango / Astor;
  • Open the Miscellaneous JTree and select nanosp-control1;
  • Right click on nanosp-control1 and select Open control Panel;
  • If all the LED indicators are green, everything is working correctly. If some of them are red, then the servers have stopped working. A third possibility, is that, even if the indicator is green, the server is stuck and needs to be restarted.
  • To kill the server, double click on it and run Kill server; once killed, run Restart server. At this point, everything should work again. Follow the hlerarchy, e.g. if you restart LEVEL 3, then kill and restart LEVEL 4 and 5.
  • Most typically, LEVEL 4 or 5 need restart, so you on't have to bother with the others.
