The participant Conference fee covers, in addition to access to the pre-conference workshops and conference tutorials, also the cost of one copy of the Proceedings (CD-ROM or paper), the welcome cocktail, the Conference banquet, a one-day tour to Venice and a visit of the third generation synchrotron radiation source ELETTRA. Do not use electronic mail. Money orders may
be faxed. Payments may be made by Bank Transfer and Credit Cards (VISA, Mastercard,
Eurocard). Payments must be in Italian Lira (ITL) and free of bank charges. No
cheques will be accepted for Registration. Registration Hours at the Conference: Registration desks will be open at these times: during pre-conference workshop days from 08:30 to 12:00. On Sunday 3rd October from 16:00 to 20:00, Monday 4th October from 08:00 to 18:00, Tuesday and Wednesday 5th and 6th October from 08:30 to 18:00 and Friday 8th October from 08:30 to 13:00. Participants of the pre-conference workshops must present themselves for registration prior to attending the workshops.
Financial SupportIn the spirit of extending participation to the Conference, limited financial support has been given to people from industrially emerging nations. The Conference Organisers gratefully acknowledge contributions from the European Community, the International Centre for Theoretical Physics and Sincrotrone Trieste. Hotel AccommodationTrieste has a good selection of hotels. However, since there are many different events at the beginning of October, you are kindly requested to book your room in advance. The deadline for hotel requests is the 3rd September 1999. Hotel accommodation will be arranged by "the office". No request will be accepted without the payment for one night stay (corresponding to the category and room type requested). Rooms will be allotted on a first come first served basis. Requests for accommodation can only be made on the official Accommodation/Social Programme Form, one per room. Please, complete the Accommodation/Social Programme Form and return it to "the office" by fax or regular mail. Do not use electronic mail. Money orders may be faxed. Cheques should be sent through regular mail. Payments must be in Italian Lira (ITL) and free of bank charges. Please note that telephoned requests cannot be accepted. Upon receipt of the one night payment, a voucher will be sent to the participant, indicating hotel address and phone/fax numbers. After 1st September 1999, the cancellation fee will be the first night. Changes of reservations, e.g. dates, names, room type and category, will only be accepted in written form and they should be made directly on the voucher and returned to "the office". If the changes are possible, a new voucher will be sent to the participant. "the office" cannot guarantee satisfying requests for modifications submitted after the 10th September 1999. Additional Accommodation: The Trieste Youth Hostel (about half an hour from the centre by car or bus) offers rooms with 4, 6, or 8 beds for ITL 20,000 per night, per person, breakfast and VAT included. How to Reach TriesteBy plane. Trieste airport located at "Ronchi dei Legionari" has direct connections to international airports in Milan, Rome, London and Munich. There is a bus service (ITL 15,000) from Trieste airport to Trieste city centre and back. Buses to town leave shortly after flight arrivals. From town to the airport, buses leave from the air terminal located at Trieste Railway Station ninety minutes before flight departure. Alternatively, you can take a taxi (about ITL 90,000). Participants flying into Venice airport "Marco Polo" should take the bus to Mestre Railway Station (about half an hour) and then take a train to Trieste (about two hours). By train. The Trieste railway station is located in the city centre near most hotels. Taxi: from Italy call 040 307730. By car. From the Venice to Trieste or Tarvisio to Trieste motorway routes exit at the end toll station. Follow signs to Trieste centre (about 25 km). WeatherIn October the weather is usually mild, with day-time temperatures ranging from 15°C to 20°C. Sudden changes, however, are possible and a raincoat and umbrella can be useful.
