CURRICULUM VITAE ET STUDIORUM
Name: Barbara Ressel
Date of birth: November 13th, 1970
Nationality: Italian
ACADEMIC RECORDS:
Ph.D. in Physics – graduated at the Charles University of Prague, on March 31st 2003, thesis title: “Microscopy study on the formation of metal-silicon interfaces”.
Supervisors: Ing. Vladimir Cháb and Dr. Kevin C. Prince.
The work has been carried out partly at Elettra Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory and partly at the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Science.
Italian “Laurea” Degree in Physics – graduated at the “Università degli Studi di Trieste” on May 17th 1996, thesis title: “Scanned energy photoelectron diffraction study of Rh(100) with synchrotron radiation”.
Supervisors: Prof. Renzo Rosei and Dr. Kevin C. Prince.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
May 2004 to present: researcher at Sincrotrone Trieste. During this time two laboratories for time resolved studies were realized. A laser source is dedicated to high order harmonic generation to produce femtosecond pulses in the EUV region, while the other is serving a facility for time resolved ARPES measurements.
Supervisor: Prof. F. Parmigiani.
November 2001 to April 2004: post doc fellowship at the TASC-INFM National Laboratory (Trieste), to work on the MagSNOM (Magnetic Scanning Near-field Optical Microscope), a prototype microscope for very low temperatures (down 1.4 K) and high magnetic fields (up to 7 T).
Supervisors: Dr. M. Lazzarino and Prof. L. Sorba.
March 1998 to October 2001: fellowship from Sincrotrone Trieste to work on the SPELEEM microscope. The work involved participation in the development and operation of a prototype photoemission microscope that achieved world record resolution in core level photoemission mode, 22 nm. In October 1998, enrolled for a Ph.D. thesis at the Charles University of Prague to work on Scanning Tunneling Microscopy and Spectroscopy (STM and STS).
Supervisors: Dr. K.C. Prince and Ing. V. Cháb.
March 1997 to February 1998: fellowship from the “Istituto di Struttura della Materia, CNR”, to study spectroscopic aspects of III/V semiconductors with synchrotron radiation based techniques, at the VUV beamline at Elettra.
Supervisor: Dr. C. Quaresima.
June 1996 to February 1997: awarded a short-term contract at Sincrotrone Trieste to assist users on the VUV beamline.
