I am Marco Bianchi, a researcher at the SuperESCA beamline at Elettra (Italy). My research focuses on the experimental investigation of the electronic structure and catalytic properties of materials characterized by strong spin–orbit coupling, including topological insulators, graphene, transition metal dichalcogenides, thin films, and semiconductors. These studies are carried out using high-resolution Angle-Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray Photoelectron Diffraction (XPD), and Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM). I am actively involved in the design and commissioning of the new SuperESCA beamline and endstations for Elettra 2.0, including the endstation dedicated to Near-Ambient-Pressure XPS (NAP-XPS). This activity builds on my previous experience in the design, construction, commissioning, and operation of the multipurpose ARPES endstation at the SGM3 beamline of the ASTRID2 synchrotron radiation facility in Aarhus, Denmark.
