CV SUMMARY STATEMENT

Dr. rer. nat. Ralf Hendrik Menk received his diploma in physics in 1990 at the University Siegen, Germany and in 1993 his PhD in physics at the University Siegen and HASYLAB at DESY, Germany. After postdoctoral stays at HASYLAB (1993 - 1995) and NSLS at BNL, Upton, New York, USA (1995 - 1997) he was rewarded with an individual European Marie Curie Grant (1997 – 1999 CT 961694), which brought him to Elettra, Italy. Since 2001 he is senior researcher at Elettra-Sincrotrone Trieste and occasionally guest lecturer at the University Siegen, Germany, at the Politecnico Milano, Italy, at the University of Uppsala, Sweden, at the ICTP, Italy and at the University Trieste, Italy. From 1999 – 2004 he was technical coordinator of the European EC FMGE-CT 98-0104 project and from 2000 to 2005 he coordinated the European EC PHASY project (HRPI-CT 1999 5008) that implemented Analyzer Based Imaging systems at several European synchrotron light sources. He was committee member, program chair and instructor at the IEEE NSS/MIC conference 2004 in Rome. In this context he coordinated the INTAS conference grant No 03-69-661. Since 2005 he is also associated researcher of the national institute of nuclear physics INFN. He authored more than 120 synchrotron and detector-related peer-reviewed contributions and two text book article (h-index=24). He is patent holder of patent no WO2004071535, 20060235296, EP1592456 and PD2008A000187. He is / has been member of the beam time review committees of NSLS, ESRF, Spring8 and CLS. Moreover, he is appointed as evaluator for the European Commission in H2020 health proposals. In 2013, he received the habilitation as Full Professor according to the Italian National Scientific Habilitation Procedure (ASN 2013). In July 2016 he has been appointed as Adjunct Professor in the Department of Medical Imaging at the College of Medicine of the University of Saskatchewan, Canada.
