JCOM Masterclass: Join the international courses of the Journal of Science Communication

Four international short courses in cutting-edge communication of science will be held in the Autumn in Trieste (Italy) for museum educators, science journalists, scientists, but also designers, architects, managers of cultural institutions and governmental offices and other professionals involved in science communication projects.

Speakers and facilitators are professionals with an international experience in the field and in training. Keynote speakers are leading professionals in the industries, academics and other experts at an international level. 

The four courses will tackle respectively:
 
Facilitating the debate on the scientific and technological progress
1-5 September 2014
 
Developing successful exhibitions
15-19 September 2014
 
Developing successful museums and science centres
27‐31 October 2014
 
Communicating current research to different audiences
10-14 November 2014 

The courses are organized by SISSA Medialab in partnership with the main international institutions of the Trieste Science System: SISSA, the International School for Advanced Studies, ICTP, the "Abdus Salam" International Centre for Theoretical Physics, ICGEB, the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology and Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste
 

Fees: the course fee is 750 €. The fee covers all training costs such as tuition, documentation, lunch and refreshments. This fee does not include travel, accommodation and subsistence which participants need to arrange for themselves. This sum is reduced by 20% (600 Euro) for members of Red Pop, the network for the Popularization of Science and Technology in Latin American and the Caribbean. Other reductions will be announced in due course.
 
Grants: some institutions will offer grants to cover the costs of participation for specific audiences or countries. The International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) is funding a grant scheme to support the participation of people residing in developing countries. All calls for applications will be announced in due course. Grants might be available for particular communities and/or countries.
