Vice President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies MP Luigi Di Maio pays a visit to AREA Science Park.

Trieste, 30th November 2016. The Vice President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies MP Luigi Di Maio is today in Trieste to pay a visit to the local scientific and research centres. His tour started this morning from AREA Science Park. To welcome Mr. Di Maio in Padriciano there were President Sergio Paoletti, General Director Stefano Casaleggi, Stephen Taylor and Fabrizio Rovatti, Director of Innovation Factory, the certified incubator of AREA Science Park.

The visit was organised, among other things, in order to show the potentialities of a few innovative startups and young companies headquartered at AREA: G&Life, which develops DNA-personalised products and services in the sector of genetics applied to nutrition; modeFinance, which implements methodologies for limited companies’ economic and financial analysis and evaluation, as well as credit risk management; and Connected Life, which has created a solution based on the most recent wireless and IoT (Internet of Things) technologies to monitor elderly people’s health status in their day-to-day life through latest-generation wireless sensors.
After the tour in Padriciano, Mr. Luigi Di Maio moved to AREA’s campus in Basovizza where he visited the premises of Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste accompanied by President Alfonso Franciosi.

“There are entities like AREA Science Park that work to connect the academia with manufacturing companies, acting as a bridge between research centres and enterprises – commented Di Maio at the end of his visit to Trieste’s science park. Both large and small-medium enterprises cannot leave research and development aside, especially at a time like this in which companies need to invest in innovation to be competitive at the international level, deploying all the instruments, including specialised knowledge, that are capable of pushing their future development.”

In the afternoon the Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies visited ICTP and subsequently the Immaginario Scientifico Science Centre.
