Abstract
Fourth-generation storage rings increase brightness and coherence to the point where detection and data handling become the limiting factors. This seminar provides an update on recent and upcoming DECTRIS developments in photon-counting detectors and on the digital solutions that help facilities and users turn high-rate data streams into reproducible results.
We will summarize the detector roadmap and the technical themes that matter at 4th-gen sources: higher frame rates, wide dynamic range, high count-rate capability, precise triggering, and operational robustness. We will also touch on integration topics (data interfaces, calibration, metadata, and downstream compatibility).
In the second part, we discuss software workflows: portable analysis environments, automation, and collaboration across institutions, including how DECTRIS CLOUD can complement facility infrastructures for peak-load processing and rapid user turnaround. The session is designed as an open technical exchange, and we welcome input on constraints and priorities from the Elettra community.
