We describe a system based upon the use of a micro-PC
control system which provides fully automatic X-ray beam intensity stabilisation,
combined with X-ray beam positional stabilisation. The system uses a
quadrent photodiode to mointor the X ray beam and acts upon piezo-electric
actuators to control the position of the second crystal of the id14-4
monochromator system. The system is in routine use on id14-4. Future
developments of the system will be described.
