Abstract
After a general introduction of the Swiss Light Source (SLS) project and an overview of the first set of beamlines under construction, we describe more in details the Surface and Interface: Spectroscopy beamline (SIS).
This beamline is mainly dedicated to fundamental research activities in surface science. The electronic and atomic structure of surfaces, their catalytic activity and their magnetic properties will be investigated using high resolution photoemission, angle-resolved ultra-violet photoelectron spectroscopy (ARUPS), photoelectron diffraction, X-ray absorption- and X-ray emission-spectroscopy. The SIS beamline is optimised for high energy resolution in the spectral range from 10 to 800 eV.
