Abstract
Established in 2004, the Nano-Innovation Lab exploits Atomic Force Microscopy-based techniques, including nanolithography, for the study of biochemical interactions on surfaces. Using molecular manipulation, we control the assembling of functional biomolecules on surface in terms of crowding, orientation and compartmentalization, for different biological and biomedical applications, ranging from studies on the kinetics and reaction mechanism of enzymes on surfaces, to the development of miniaturize devices to detect biomarkers at the early stage of diseases development. Beside that, the Nano-Innovation Lab serves as a support lab for many groups at Elettra working in biology, material science and optics. This presentation will give an overview about the latest achievements of the lab in AFM nanobiology/nanomedicine, and about the set of ongoing collaborations within Elettra.
