New Provincial Carabinieri Commander Gianpaolo Greco visits the research centre
|
A closer look at the science carried out at Elettra and FERMI, the research infrastructures that make it possible, and the centre’s plans for future development: these were the main themes of a visit by Colonel Gianpaolo Greco, the new Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri in Trieste, accompanied by Major Manuel Curreri and Lieutenant Francesco Di Maio. The delegation was welcomed by Marco Marazzi, Deputy General Coordinator of Elettra. The visit began with a meeting with President Giovanni Comelli, who presented the centre’s activities and the role of its scientific infrastructures, while also outlining the future development of Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste. The meeting was also attended by Flavio Bavdaz, Head of the Prevention and Protection Service, and Marco Zangrando, Head of FERMI’s photon transport and diagnostics system. It provided an opportunity to introduce the guests to the research carried out at Elettra and FERMI, where cutting-edge science and technological development come together in facilities that welcome an international community of researchers every year. |

Following the presentation, the delegation moved on to the research facilities themselves. Guided by Marco Zangrando, the guests visited FERMI, Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste’s free-electron laser, where they had the opportunity to see the facility first-hand and learn more about how it operates and the scientific activities it supports. The visit provided an opportunity for dialogue with the Carabinieri, further strengthening Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste’s ties with local institutions. It also gave the new Provincial Commander the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into one of the research organisations contributing to Trieste’s international scientific profile. |
