Among the core activities of SciQC is the leadership of Artificial Intelligence initiatives at Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste, spanning research, infrastructure, and deployment across synchrotron and FEL science.

Core AI activities include:

• Local LLMs for synchrotron and FEL workflows
• ML for data analysis, reconstruction, and scientific computing
• Server-side and edge AI HW setup and deployment
• Custom MCPs, Skills, and domain-specific applications
• AI policy, governance, and ethics for large-scale research facilities
• Chatbots and intelligent agents for Elettra users and services
• AI for robotics, automation, and digital twins
