40th FEL conference in Trieste

The 40th edition of the FEL Free Elecron Laser Conference opened today
21 August in Trieste at the TCC Trieste Congress Center. Michele
Svandrlik General Coordinator of Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste and Luca
Giannessi Chair of the Conference welcomed the participants at the
opening. This was immediately followed by a remembrance by M.E Couprie.
in memory of M. Billardon who recently passed away, and then immediately
followed the first session dedicated to the theme First Lasing.

During the first coffee break, the almost 250 participants present in
the first session posed for a group photo under the sign at the main
conference entrance.

The conference will end on 26 August, with a technical visit to Elettra
on Thursday and the presentation of the FEL Prizes during the social
dinner. Good work everyone!
