Notice: Visits Suspended until the end of 2026

Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste is an international and multidisciplinary research center of excellence, specialized in the study of materials through light generated by two sources: Elettra, a third-generation synchrotron, and FERMI, a free-electron laser of new conception.

These infrastructures are used to investigate matter at the atomic level and to understand its properties. Through its research activities, Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste promotes the cultural, social, and economic growth of society, fostering the transfer of knowledge and technology, and contributing to the dissemination of high-level technical, scientific, and managerial training.

To provide the scientific community with internationally leading research tools, Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste must remain at the forefront of innovation and technological development.
In this context, our center is undertaking an ambitious infrastructure upgrade project with the construction of Elettra 2.0, which will offer even more advanced capabilities for multidisciplinary research.

For logistical and safety reasons related to the construction of this new facility, we are unfortunately forced to suspend public and school visits from now until the end of 2026.

In the meantime, those wishing to learn more about our activities can explore our virtual tour available on our website at the following link: Virtual tour.
