Job Description: The successful candidate will be part of the NanoInnovation Lab team. She/he will help with the development of miniaturized biosensors based on Electrochemical Impedence Spectroscopy for the detection of microRNAs and protein biomarkers relevant for cancer and heart failure diseases circulating in the body fluids.
The selected candidate will be involved in the microfabrication of gold electrodes and their integrated microfluidic system, in the optimization of surface functionalization of the electrodes with biomarker-related binders, in the setting and optimization of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements in liquid environment and in particular in plasma samples, in strong collaboration with the laboratory team members.
He/she is expected to be involved in proprietary research in contact with industry.

Qualifications: A PhD in physics, chemistry or nanotechnology is required. Proven experience in electron beam microfabrication and soft lithography, in surface bio-functionalization, in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy by means of bi-potentiostats, in microfluidics, in electronics and LabView instrument control are expected. Capabilities in the implementation of software pipelines for data analysis and/or programming skills in C, C++ , Layout-Editor programme and IgoRwill be a plus.He/she should possess strong personal skills to pursue collaborative research programs in a team-oriented environment and to become part of existing research collaborations.
Good oral and written communication skills in English are essential, together with the ability to work productively in a team. A working knowledge of the Italian language is highly desirable; knowledge of other languages is an asset.

 
 
The search will be opened on June 16 and  closed on June 29, 2016. A fixed term appointment of an initial 2,5 months duration is envisioned. The salary will be commensurate with previous experiences and qualifications of the candidate.
