Research Associate for the CITIUS project (Physicist) ref. E/13/12
Elettra-Sincrotrone Trieste is an international multidisciplinary research center operated as a user facility, featuring a 2.0/2.4 GeV, third-generation synchrotron light source and a variety of support laboratories. The extremely high quality of the machine and beamlines has set new performance records and has been producing results of great scientific interest. See http://www.elettra.eu for more information. A free-electron laser (FEL) based, fourth generation source - FERMI@Elettra - is currently under commissioning. See http://www.elettra.eu/FERMI/ for more information.
CITIUS is a project funded in the framework of the cooperation program Italia-Slovenia 2007-2013. The project aims at establishing the "Centro Interregionale di TecnologIe fotonIche Ultraveloci per la Spettroscopia" (Interregional Center for Ultrafast Photonic technologies for Spectroscopy) at Nova Gorica University (Laboratory of Quantum Optics, Ajdovščina, Slovenia), where a novel fs-VUV source based on laser high-order harmonic generation in rare gases is being installed. The scientific program foresees experiments in the field of femtochemistry by means of pump-probe techniques and will be carried out in close collaboration with the Low-Density Matter (LDM) beam line of FERMI@Elettra.For this purpose a state of the art set-up for pump-probe photoemission equipped with an Angle Resolved Time Of Flight (AR-TOF) electron spectrometer is being assembled at the Laboratory of Quantum Optics. See http://www.elettra.trieste.it/lightsources/labs-and-services/citius/citius.html for more information.
Job Description: The successful Candidate will be involved in the assembling of the ARTOF set up and willparticipate in the first pump-probe experiments. |
Qualifications: A master’sdegree in Physics, Chemistry, or related discipline is required. Experience in research with synchrotron and laser spectroscopies or with Free Electron lasers is highly advisable. |
The search will be opened immediately and will continue until a suitable Candidate is found. The appointment envisioned is a Research Associate contract (contratto di collaborazione a progetto) of 9 months duration, starting on September 1st 2013.
