Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste is an international multidisciplinary research center operated as a user facility, featuring a 2.0/2.4 GeV, third-generation synchrotron light source and a variety of support laboratories. Job Description: The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, installation and management of parts of the IT systems of the research center. In particular, he/she will be responsible of the IT systems supporting the scientific activities of the laboratory, including the experimental stations, the control and data collection systems, storage of scientific data of the e-Science platform.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a diploma of industrial or professional institute preferably in electronic / telecommunications / computer science, Bachelor or Master's degree in computer science or electronic / telecommunications / computer engineering.
The position requires a proven track record in the design, installation and administration of:
- Systems based on Unix-like operating systems. Integration of systems based on Unix like operating systems with Mac and Windows platforms;
- Database (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL);
- Web server;
- Distributed computer networks;
- High-performance computing clusters;
- Virtualization systems based on open source software;
- High capacity and performance data storage infrastructure.
We will consider favourably the experience in the implementation of applied high reliability services, in particular, backup and storage systems and knowledge of video conferencing technologies.
An good knowledge of the English and Itaian languages (both written and spoken) is mandatory.
Preference will be given to candidates belonging to the "Categorie Protette - ART.1 L. 68/99"

The selection process will begin on November 28 and continue until Dicember 30, 2016. The appointment envisioned is a fixed term contract of  24  months duration. Rank and salary will be commensurate with the experience and competence of the selected candidate.
