Printer installation on GNU/Linux

The guide refers explicitly to the Kyocera TASKalfa 4053ci, the network multifuntional printers installed at Elettra, but can be used for other printers, properly changing the drivers.

The latest drivers for the Kyocera TASKalfa 4053ci can be downloaded from:

choosing "Classic PCL and KPDL driver".

The ZIP file should be uncompressed and the "KCTS4053.PPD" will be located in ClassicDriver/KPDLDriver/English (or Italian, if preferred)

Just follow the step-by-step procedure reported below, but change the "sincro-print" hostname with "", while we proceed to create new screenshots! Thanks for your patience.

Printer installation using CUPS

Follow the next instructions to install the printer in your linux system.

  • Open your preferred browser, type localhost:631 and click on Administration


  • Click on Add Printer


  • Type your local credentials to login


  • Select LPD and click on Continue

  • Type as below and change name_printer with the printer you want to use and click on Continue

  • Type the right name of the printer you want to use (this could be the same you choose above) and click on Continue

  • Select the PPD_file


  • In this example we are choosing "Kyocera TASKalfa_3550ci", or another PPD file provided for your printer (for example HP)

  • ADD PRINTER and you are ready to print!
