International Award FEL 2014 to William M. Fawley

William M. Fawley, formerly a staff scientist with Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory, who has been a collaborator of Elettra-Sincrotrone Trieste in the framework of the FERMI Project since the early beginning and is now actively contributing to the commissioning of FERMI, is the winner of the prestigious international award FEL 2014.
The prize is annually awarded "to a person who has Contributed significantly to the advancement of the field of Free-Electron Laser (...). It gives the international community the FEL Recognize opportunity to one of its members for his or her outstanding achievements. "
The prize was awarded to Dr. Fawley during the 36th International Free-Electron Laser Conference, which took place in Basel (August 25 - 29). This is the second consecutive year that the prize goes to one of the scientists of the FERMI team; the winner of the FEL 2013 award was Dr. Luca Giannessi, Head of Machine Physics at FERMI.
