On Thursday, 17 October 2024, Elettra-Sincrotrone Trieste hosted a delegation from Uzbekistan led by Sarvarkhon Buzrukkhonov, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation. The delegation also included Akbarkhon Sobirkhonov, Head of the Coordination Department of the Youth Academy, and Marco Farci, Advisor to the Minister of University and Innovation. The visit aimed to explore collaboration opportunities in scientific research and technology.

The delegation was welcomed by Alfonso Franciosi, President and CEO, who delivered a presentation about the institute's key activities, highlighting its role as a leader in synchrotron light-based research. Giorgio Paolucci, Chief Scientific Officer, provided an overview of Elettra’s cutting-edge research infrastructure.

During the visit, discussions included the possibility of establishing a collaboration framework in the field of synchrotron radiation. 

The guests toured several of Elettra’s key experimental facilities, including advanced beamlines, and further explored potential future collaborations.

The visit concluded with an informal meeting to discuss the next steps in strengthening ties between Uzbekistan and Elettra-Sincrotrone Trieste, marking a significant step toward fostering international cooperation in science and innovation.
