On July 17–18, Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste hosted the symposium "Advancements in High-Resolution Imaging Using Next-Generation Light Sources" at the ICTP Adriatico Guesthouse. The event was supported by the MAECI (Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in connection with the project “Super-Resolution X-ray Microscopy.”
The symposium offered a valuable opportunity for experts from various laboratories and large-scale research facilities to exchange updates on ongoing activities, share recent results, and discuss common technical challenges in the field. It also explored the potential of the FEL facility to drive new research directions.
Among the most discussed topics, particular attention was given to the development and application of novel imaging techniques using different sources to achieve high spatial and temporal resolution. A round-table session at the end of the symposium provided a forum for discussing the event's key outcomes. During the event, participants also had the opportunity to visit the FERMI Free Electron Laser facility.
The workshop welcomed 57 participants, with contributions from researchers affiliated with institutions including CNR, Elettra, Diamond Light Source, EPFL, ESRF, ETH, Helmholtz Institute, ICTP, Ghent University, IMDEA Nanoscience, INAF, IIT, ISDI, Lund University, the University of Pavia, the University of Trieste, MAX IV, the Max Planck Institute, PSI, Universidad de los Andes, the University of Bern, and University College London.
