CERIC-ERIC Stradivarius study that involed SISSI at the Festival della Scienza of Genova
|
On 4 November 2023, on the occasion of the Festival della Scienza di Genova, a meeting was held coordinated by Chiaramaria Stani, researcher at CERIC working on Elettra's SISSI beamline, and Giacomo Fiocco, researcher at the Arvedi Laboratory for Non-Invasive Diagnostics at the University of Pavia.
The conference entitled 'Searching Antonio Stradivari's signature' was moderated by Marcello Turconi, head of scientific communication at CERIC, and was an opportunity for the researchers to illustrate their research on ancient and rare violins to the audience. A recent work was particularly presented in which Chiaramaria Stani and Giacomo Fiocco collaborated to discover the secrets of Stradivari's violins, exploiting the characteristics of synchrotron light applied to analytical techniques such as infrared nanospectroscopy, which has never before been used for the analysis of cultural heritage.
TG Leonardo dedicated a report to the conference
