Prof. Belhocine of the African Union visiting Elettra

A delegation headed by H.E. Prof. Mohamed Belhocine, Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (ESTI) of the African Union visited Elettra on the 4th of May.
The Delegation was accompanied by Dr. Sandro Scandolo, Head Of Research at Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) and was welcomed by Dr. Giorgio Paolucci, Chief Scientific Officer of Elettra.
Paolucci introduced the distinguished guests to the applications of synchrotron radiation and to Elettra-Sincrotrone Trieste in particular, with special emphasis on the applications in life and medical sciences.

Elettra is already contributing to the training of African researchers through ICTP and projects such as LAAAMP the possibility of further training opportunities in synchrotron radiation for the continent were discussed.
Elettra would like to thank ICTP for organising this stimulating visit. |
