Elettra Featured in the Serbian Video Series Vodič kroz budućnost

The Serbian National Broadcaster (RTS), through its educational and scientific program, has dedicated an episode of the series Vodič kroz budućnost (“Guide to the Future”) to the city of Trieste, recognized as one of Europe’s leading hubs for research and innovation. The episode, titled Trst – grad nauke i inovacija (“Trieste, City of Science and Innovation”), explores how knowledge, technology, and international collaboration come together in the city.

The RTS project aims to bring the Serbian public closer to the places where the science of the future is being built, showcasing centers of excellence that foster collaboration across countries and disciplines. During its visit to Trieste, the crew explored some of the city’s most prominent research institutions: Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste, ICTP, SISSA, ICGEB, and AREA Science Park.

At Elettra, the filming focused on how synchrotron light is used to investigate matter in depth—from the design of new materials to biomedical applications. The episode featured colleagues Lisa Vaccari, Emiliano Principi, and Fabio Mazzolini, who presented the capabilities of the beamlines and the opportunities offered by cutting-edge facilities such as Elettra 2.0 and FERMI.

The visit of the RTS crew to Trieste marks an encouraging step toward potential scientific collaborations between Elettra and Serbian research institutions, paving the way for future exchanges and joint initiatives. At the same time, the episode helps to broaden Elettra’s visibility as an international research center capable of inspiring and attracting young talent to the frontiers of science.
