The meeting of the Machine Advisory Committee (MAC) of Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste concluded on Friday, 27 March, during which the progress of the Elettra 2.0 project was reviewed.

The programme also included a site visit, providing a direct view of the ongoing progress. The group was accompanied by Roberto Visintini, Head of the Removal & Installation subprogramme, through the main work areas.

During the visit, committee members toured the newly completed buildings: the RP, designated for the storage of components removed from the Elettra machine, and the LB, the laboratory dedicated to the measurement of the new magnets for Elettra 2.0, where the first assembled girders are already in place.

The tour then continued in the storage ring area, where the new storage ring will be installed, with a closer look at the technical solutions adopted for the installation of the new magnets.

One year after their last visit, the committee noted significant progress, confirming the steady advancement towards the new light source.
