FEL 2022 technical visit and FEL prizes

At the conclusion of the 40th FEL conference hosted by Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste at the TCC Trieste Convention Center, a visit was held yesterday with 150 colleagues from all over the world, who were divided into five groups to familiarise with FERMI and Elettra. Welcomed at eight different locations and guided by FERMI and Elettra colleagues, they were also able to visit the Linac tunnel and areas that are off limits during normal operation.
The conference social dinner (in front of a breathtaking sunset) took place at Magazzino 42 at the Maritime Station, from where guests enjoyed the view of the Gulf of Trieste.
The FEL Prizes in the two categories Young Scientists and FEL Prize, awarded to those who have distinguished themselves for their discoveries or important contributions in the field of free electron lasers, were given during the dinner.
This year's winners in the Young Scientist Award category were co-awarded
Svitozar Serkez, Jiawei Yan, Zhen Zhang.
As for the FEL 2022 Prize were co-awarded Prof. Brian McNeil and Prof. Ying Wu.
