Kick-off meeting of Lasers4EU: a central platform for accessing European laser research infrastructures

On 21-22 October 2024, the kick-off meeting of the EU co-funded project Lasers4EU took place in Heraklion. The two-day event marked the launch of the initiative, bringing together all project partners from across Europe to outline the ambitious goals set for the next four years.

The EU co-funded project Lasers4EU was launched on October 1, 2024, marking a new era in laser research. By bringing together 29 leading laser research institutions across Europe from 15 European countries, the project offers a central platform with unprecedented access to cutting-edge laser technologies and services for external scientists from academia and industry. Lasers4EU is the successor of the Laserlab-Europe project, and beyond transnational access, provides comprehensive training opportunities, equipping users with both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in laser technologies and applications.

Lasers4EU is infact a central platform for accessing European laser research infrastructures integrating the expertise and resources of its diverse Access Providing Infrastructures (APIs), ensuring a coordinated offer for a wide-ranging user community with the aim to Provide coordinated access to high-quality services, Structure the European landscape of laser Research Infrastructure and Increase European human resources in the field of laser science.

Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste with FERMI will deliver transnational access to 40 experiments attracting researchers from all over the world, with a special focus on young users.
The project will receive 5 million euros from the European Union.
