Memorandum signed between local research institutes


A city representing a national and international pole of attraction for the world of science and innovation. This is the main idea underlying the Memorandum of Understanding that was signed on June 14th, in the blue lounge of the Municipality of Trieste by Angela Brandi - Councillor for education and research - and 18 stakeholders supporting this project. The stakeholders include AREA Science Park, Venezia Giulia Chamber of Commerce, United World College of the Adriatic, Giuseppe Tartini Music Academy, CBM, Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste, FIT, ICGEB Trieste (International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology), ICTP (The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics), INAF (National Institute for Astrophysics), INFN (National Institute for Nuclear Physics), Science Centre Immaginario Scientifico, MIB School of Management, National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics - OGS, SISSA (International School for Advanced Studies), Verdi Theatre, TWAS - The World Academy of Sciences and the University of Trieste.

The MoU aims at consolidating mutual relations, turning research results into local development opportunities, promoting innovation stemming from the world of research among companies to spur economic development, sharing strategies and identifying actions to improve the reception of students and researchers, cooperating with trade associations to provide innovative services to companies and citizens, and supporting the dissemination of scientific knowledge and the economic system of Trieste and its excellencies at a national and international level.
The signing parties have also committed to develop and implement cooperation agreements to provide internships and career guidance to undergraduate and graduate students, and to collaborate in the fields of training, human resources development, qualification and specialization of the staff working in the research institutes.
