Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste was pleased to welcome Danny Fainozzi from the University of Bern for a Twinning stay of a week within the framework of the NEPHEWS Twinning Programme.
The Twinning Programme, an integral part of the broader NEPHEWS initiative, is designed to foster the transfer of essential knowledge required to operate effectively within research infrastructures. By combining organizational insight with advanced technical training, the programme enables early-career researchers and new users to work alongside experienced teams, actively participating in ongoing experiments. This hands-on experience provides excellent preparation for the submission of future scientific proposals. As one of the 18 research infrastructures involved in the initiative, Elettra is contributing to a total of 135 Twinning actions. Owing to the ongoing Elettra 2.0 upgrade, the activities are currently hosted at the FERMI beamlines. Danny Fainozzi is familiar with the experimental environment, having conducted experiments at FERMI in the past. Such a "twinning experience" allowed him to consolidate professional contacts and establish fruitful collaborations with more experienced fellow researchers. This opportunity was important in strengthening his recent scientific project ideas, which will be able to greatly benefit from unique capabilities of FERMI. For Elettra and FERMI, hosting motivated researchers such as Fainozzi represents a valuable opportunity to reinforce scientific partnerships and promote excellence in the research of next generation facility users. |
