Our linear accelerator FERMI featured in a TGR Leonardo report

A report dedicated to our free electron laser FERMI is now available on TGR Leonardo. At the end of 2025, FERMI celebrated 15 years since its first light—an important milestone for a research infrastructure that continues to stand out internationally for its innovation and achievements. The report highlights how FERMI enables the observation of matter on the nanometric scale thanks to ultra-fast and powerful light pulses, capable of “capturing” fundamental processes such as photosynthesis or heat diffusion in materials. Its applications range from the study of new materials to addressing concrete challenges such as the overheating of electronic devices and data centers.
