On 11 November 2025, the last Front-End (FE_S6.2) and the last magnet, the B_S6.2 dipole, were removed from the Elettra Storage Ring.

With this operation, the removal phase of Elettra—launched on 2 July—can be considered complete. This is a particularly significant milestone, as it brings to a close the initial stage of the Elettra 2.0 project, dedicated to dismantling the accelerator. Over these months, the staff has been engaged in removing complex, delicate, and at times bulky and heavy components, working within confined spaces and managing logistics designed to ensure safety, precision, and continuity of the site's ongoing activities.

Preparatory work for the new installations now begins. The infrastructure activities starting in these days include the removal of the remaining flooring and systems that must be replaced.

Beginning on 24 November, coring operations are scheduled to enable the removal of the existing foundations—a crucial step in preparing the ring to host the new accelerator systems of Elettra 2.0.
