European XFEL Chairman of the board and Managing Director Thomas Feurer visits FERMI and Elettra

On Wednesday 17 April, Prof. Feurer,  recently appointed as Chairman of the Management Board and Managing Director of European XFEL GmbH, visited our laboratory welcomed by Alfonso Franciosi, President and CEO of Elettra, Claudio Masciovecchio, Head of FERMI's time-resolved experimental techniques and Giorgio Paolucci, Chief Scientific Officer of Elettra.
 
After visiting FERMI and three of the Elettra beamlines (APE with Ivana Vobornik, SuperESCA with Marco Bianchi and Nanospectroscopy with Andrea Locatelli), he had a personal meeting with prof. Franciosi who described future challenges and expectations of the Elettra 2.0 project.
In the afternoon prof. Feurer held a seminar titled “Advancements in High Energy Density Science at European XFEL: Matter under Extreme Conditions” where he described recent breakthroughs, ongoing research initiatives, and future prospects in HED science at European XFEL, emphasizing its crucial role in addressing fundamental scientific questions, driving technological innovation, and inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers.
