On 29 January 2026, a delegation from Isotta Fraschini Motori S.p.A., based in Bari, paid a visit to Elettra. The initiative, organised in collaboration with the University of Trieste (UNITS), was dedicated to an in-depth review of research activities in the field of fuel cell technologies. Isotta Fraschini Motori, traditionally active in the design and manufacturing of internal combustion engines, is currently undertaking a process of technological diversification, directing part of its production capacity towards the development of polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cell generators, in line with energy transition and sustainability objectives. During the meeting, the strategic value of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Scientific and Innovation System (SIS FVG) was highlighted as a key framework fostering synergy between the research sector and industry. The North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley (NAHV) project was also presented as a flagship initiative for the promotion of clean energy, with particular emphasis on the maritime sector, where reducing dependence on fossil fuels represents a priority objective. |
