The XVII School on Synchrotron Radiation “Gilberto Vlaic” has been organized by the Italian Society of Synchrotron Radiation (SILS) in collaboration with
Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste from 16 to 26 September 2024 in Muggia.

The school, founded by Gilberto Vlaic and now dedicated to his memory, gave a general overview of the characteristics and potentiality of synchrotron radiation to graduated students and young researchers.

The emission of synchrotron radiation both from the storage rings and from free electron lasers, its properties, most of the experimental methods used, their
fundamentals and applications in various disciplines were contemplated as well as data analysis and experimental training in some of the Elettra beamlines.

This year edition has been attended by 57 students from all over the world.

Directors of the School: Prof. Settimio Mobilio, University of Roma 3 and Dr. Giorgio Paolucci, Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste in cooperation with Andrea Locatelli and Andrea Locatelli, Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste
