Meeting with the new Executive Director of UNESCO-TWAS, Prof. Marcelo Knobel

On Friday 14 February, the new Executive Director of UNESCO-TWAS, Prof. Marcelo Knobel, visited Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste.

Welcomed by Giorgio Paolucci, Chief Scientific Officer and Marco Marazzi, Deputy General Coordinator, the guest followed an introductory presentation by Prof. Alfonso Franciosi, Chairman and CEO of Elettra. During the visit, he also had the opportunity to deepen the experimental activities and applications of synchrotron light infrastructures by visiting the Nanospectroscpy, NanoESCA and Xpress beamlines, led respectively by Andrea Locatelli, Vitaliy Feyer, Boby Joseph and Frederico Alabarse. The visit ended in FERMI, accompanied by Flavio Capotondi.

Prof. Knobel expressed great interest in ongoing international collaborations and future prospects for technological development. The director also underlined the importance of the multidisciplinary research conducted at Elettra, which ranges from physics to biomedicine.

At the end of the visit, he praised the center's scientific excellence and contribution to the global scientific community. The meeting laid the foundations for future synergies and shared projects.
