On Monday, 24 November, the newly appointed Prefect of Trieste, Giuseppe Petronzi, visited Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste and the FERMI laboratory.
Welcomed by Deputy General Coordinator Marco Marazzi, the Prefect attended an introductory presentation delivered by the President, Prof. Alfonso Franciosi, in the presence of Chief Scientific Officer Giorgio Paolucci and Carlo Callegari, head of the LDM beamline.
The visit continued in the FERMI experimental hall, where Callegari illustrated the operation of the source, its main applications, and the research activities currently underway. In this context, Prefect Petronzi explored the strategic role of synchrotron light infrastructures and the FERMI free-electron laser for scientific and industrial research.
