Today, October 12, 2022, Elettra has welcomed a group of about 20 participants to the 'Joint ICTP-IAEA Advanced Workshop on Future Trends in Multidisciplinary Ion Beam Analysis'

The workshop designed to provide an advanced training and information exchange platform both for early-stage and experienced researchers, includes recent advancements in accelerator technology and detection systems, novel applications and combinations of analysis tools as well as software developments and artificial intelligence.
With the increasing demand to respond to the economic and societal challenges it also has a dedicated part on creative thinking, networking, research infrastructures and strategies for efficient operation and upgrade of accelerator facilities.

Franco Zanini, researcher at SYRMEP beamline, has welcomed the students and has given a lecture on ‘Introduction to Creativity’.
The group then, accompanied by Stefano Cleva, electronic engineer involved in controls, diagnostics and electromagnetic simulation and design activities, visited the Elettra Exhibition area and the DXRL, X-Ray Fluorescence XRF, XAFS, SISSI,SYRMEP, Twin-Mic beamlines and the FERMI experimenthal hall where they followed the researchers’ explanations with great interest and had the chance to deepen some technical and practical aspects. Giuliana Aquilanti, Coordinator of the Research Projects Cluster and Head of XAFS and XRF beamlines at Elettra gave them an overview on the long standing collaboration between IAEA and Elettra.

Since 2005 Elettra is "IAEA Collaborating Centre” and endorses the Agency’s activities in disseminating scientific and technical culture and promoting international networks among the research communities worldwide. IAEA also is a Partner of the XRF beamline at Elettra since 2012.
