Visit of the Plenipotentiary Minister Uberto Vanni d'Archirafi to Elettra: Opportunities for International Collaborations and Technological Innovation

On Thursday 25 July 2024, the Plenipotentiary Minister Uberto Vanni d'Archirafi, Special Envoy for the Caribbean countries of the MAECI, visited Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste. Welcomed by the President and CEO, prof. Alfonso Franciosi, the Special Envoy had the opportunity to visit the beamlines of the Elettra synchrotron (specifically XRD1 illustrated by Maurizio Polentarutti, and SYRMEP, illustrated by Diego Dreossi) and the FERMI Free Electron Laser, with Claudio Masciovecchio. The Special Envoy was exposed to the potential of these research infrastructures in the sectors of life sciences and materials science, and their possible role in the technological and scientific development of Caribbean countries.
 
During the meeting, the ways in which the technologies developed by Elettra can be applied and shared were discussed, promoting a scientific and technological dialogue.
 
The visit ended with a meeting with the President of AREA Science Park, prof.ssa Caterina Petrillo strengthening the relationships and synergies between the different scientific and technological realities of the area.
 
Plenipotentiary Minister Vanni d'Archirafi continued his tour by visiting other institutes of excellence, including the International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) and the University of Trieste.
