Delegation visiting Elettra during IUPAP centennial conference in Trieste

On the occasion of the IUPAP Centennial Celebration Conference at the Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) to be held in Trieste July 11-13, a group of delegates to the conference visited Elettra today, July 8.
Participants included Silvina Ponce Dawson, IUPAP President-elect Argentina; Jens Vigen, IUPAP Sec Gen, CERN - Norway; Rudzani Nemutudi, IUPAP Ass. Sec. Gen; Deputy Director, iThemba Labs, South Africa; Laura Greene, IUPAP Vice President; member of the US President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology USA, Atlas Varsted, Executive Board, Intl Assoc Physics Students. Sponsored by Sandro Scandolo, Acting Senior Coordinator of ICTP and Deputy Secretary General for Administrative Affairs of IUPAP, the visit was an interesting opportunity to explore scientific issues and exchange information.
Presenting Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste were Prof. Alfonso Franciosi, President and CEO of Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste, and Chief Scientific Officer Giorgio Paolucci, and some fellow researchers who explained features and aspects of Elettra's Nanospectroscopy, Xpress, and TwinMic beamlines and the FERMI free electron laser.
