Optical Investigations of C_60F_18 thin Films and single Crystals

Abstract
Investigations of C60F18 single crystals using polarized IR and VUV have been carried out. For the first time almost full pyroelectric alignment of molecules with high intrinsic dipole momentum was observed for 300K. We established the crystal to be single-domain. Calculations of IR spectra for an isolated molecule and comparison with the experimental curves allowed to determine molecules\\\\\' orientation with respect to the crystal plains. Possible applications of FEL for luminescence and exitons investigations will be discussed.
