The FERMI@Elettra Bunch Compressors Diagnostics

Abstract
Fourth generation light sources like the FERMI@Elettra seeded FEL rely on a very high quality electron beams. This request naturally imposes to equip the accelerator with high performance diagnostics. The two bunch compressors are extremely important components of the machine where dedicated diagnostics will be installed. Energy and bunch length will be measured respectively by Energy BPMs and coherent radiation based diagnostics (CSR/CDR). These diagnostics will be online and non destructive; the generated signals will be fed to the feedback systems to guarantee an active and long term stabilization. Energy spread and transverse bunch profile will be measured by OTR based optical detection and wire scanners. Bunch phase will be measured by a bunch phase monitor BPhM. The seminar will give and overview of the diagnostics goals, the different techniques and the design progress up to now with particular attention to coherent radiation based diagnostics.
