Protein Production for Drug Discovery in NMS: a Good Mix of Science and Technology

Abstract
Nerviano Medical Sciences (NMS) is the largest stand-alone cancer R&D organization in Europe (spin-off of the Pharmacia/Pfizer Oncology Research Center in Milan) that point to discover and develop innovative drugs to address unmet medical needs in oncology. An overview on the drug discovery process will be presented, with a main focus on the strategy of the protein production group within the context of the kinase platform of NMS. Examples of proteins produced for different scopes will be showed, with more emphasis on the crystallographic achievements.
