Monochromatization of high-order harmonics by time-preserving configurations

Luca Poletto
CNR, INFM, LUXOR Laboratory, Padova

Abstract
The problem of the spectral selection of one (or few) harmonics within a broad-band XUV spectrum of several discrete harmonics will be analysed. Some solutions will be presented to realize a tunable monochromator which does not alter the intrinsic duration of the harmonics: 1) the use of diffraction gratings in time-preserving configuration; 2) the use of a low-resolution monochromator with minimum broadening. It will be discussed the monochromator recently realized at CNR- INFM LUXOR Laboratory (Padova) for the high-order harmonic beamline ARTEMIS at Rutherford (UK). The optical design will be discussed and the results of the characterization of the instrument and of the generation stage will be presented.
