Advanced nonlinear optical spectroscopies for quantum technology applications

Elisabetta Collini

Abstract
Quantum mechanics is currently the most powerful tool we have available to design devices with improved functionalities and efficiency. The development of increasingly sophisticated techniques to manipulate light and matter has facilitated fundamental studies of quantum effects, inspiring new technologies. In this seminar I will propose and discuss the use of multidimensional coherent optical techniques, initially developed to explore quantum effects in biological processes, for quantum computing applications. These techniques can indeed be exploited to promote and drive coherent information transfer by ultrafast laser addressing. A proof-of-concept based on the investigation of the dynamics of semiconductor quantum dots arrays will be illustrated.
